HOT SPRINGS - 2006

Hot Springs was designed and built to illustrate how that with our increasingly warm climate many semi-tropical and exotic plants can now be grown outdoors in the UK. The greater proportion of plants and trees in the garden originated in the Southern Hemisphere, and were bought back to Europe by the explorers, botanists and collectors who ventured to the New World.

You were able to look across the lushly-planted pond with its soothing, bubbling water and gentle drifting stream and invited to walk across a rustic bridge to a hideaway on stilts, standing in the water. Using plants such as lotus, ferns, cannas, bananas and tree ferns, the garden took on an exotic feel in a semi-tropical atmosphere.

We were so proud to achieve the R.H.S. GOLD medal and the much-coveted TUDOR ROSE Award.
